- Do you need a drawing to quote a custom weldment?
- Yes. A dimensioned drawing is required because plate thickness, weld size, tolerances, datums, heat treatment and inspection points all affect the manufacturing route and price. Send the drawing together with the required quantity and destination.
- Why is the weldment annealed after welding?
- Welding introduces residual stress into a large fabricated structure. Post-weld annealing reduces that stress before final machining, helping the structure remain stable when material is removed from critical faces.
- What does shot blasting do?
- Shot blasting removes loose scale, rust and surface contamination after fabrication and heat treatment. It leaves a clean, uniform surface ready for inspection and any specified primer, paint or other finish.
- What information should be included with the drawing?
- Include material grade, plate thicknesses, overall dimensions, weld symbols, tolerances, machining datums, heat-treatment requirements, surface finish, quantity and delivery destination. We will review any missing points before production.
